The unlock modal never appears

Check a few things:

• Is the lock enabled on the Icecube locks page?
• Is the element type enabled in Settings → Icecube?
• Are you an admin with Admins Bypass turned on, or do you have the Bypass all locks permission? Bypass users never see the modal.
• Is the lock configured to cover the action you’re taking? A lock that only covers editing won’t block deleting, and vice versa.
• Do you have the Unlock locked content with password permission? Without it the modal is never shown — you’ll be blocked from saving with no way to unlock. This is the most common cause after upgrading to 5.2.0.

My password isn’t working

Make sure you’re entering the right one. If the lock has a per-lock password, that’s the one Icecube checks — the master password won’t work as a fallback. If there’s no per-lock password set, use the master password from Settings → Icecube.

If you’ve forgotten the master password, an admin can reset it by entering a new value in plugin settings and saving. The previous password is replaced.

“Too many failed attempts. Try again in a few minutes.”

You’ve hit the brute force protection. After a number of wrong passwords (5 by default) on the same element and action, Icecube refuses further attempts for a cooling-off period (5 minutes by default).

Wait out the window and try again — the correct password is refused too while the lockout is active, so there’s no point retrying immediately. Retrying during the lockout doesn’t extend it, but it won’t get you in either.

The lockout only affects your account and that element, so other editors and other content are unaffected. An admin can shorten the window in Settings → Icecube → Lockout Duration, or raise the attempt count if your team trips it too easily.

My editors suddenly can’t unlock anything after updating

As of 5.2.0 the Unlock locked content with password permission is enforced. Previously it was listed but never checked, so everyone could unlock regardless. Grant it to the relevant user groups under Settings → Users → User Groups. Admins are unaffected.

I can save a locked entry without being prompted

You’re probably a bypass user. Check whether you’re an admin with Admins Bypass enabled, or whether your user group has the Bypass all locks permission.

Drafts are saving without prompting, but publishing is blocked

That’s expected. Icecube lets draft autosaves pass through so editors can work uninterrupted, and enforces the lock when the draft is published to the canonical element. See Usage for details.

Unlock sessions expire too quickly (or too slowly)

Adjust Unlock TTL in Settings → Icecube. The value is in minutes and can be set anywhere from 1 to 1440.

I don’t see Icecube in the control panel sidebar

Icecube doesn’t add its own top-level CP section. Everything is under Settings → Icecube (plugin settings) and Settings → Icecube → Locks (lock management).
